Elton Rejects $11M for Wedding Broadcast

(EZ-Tracks) - Elton John is no sell-out. He and his boyfriend and soon-to be-husband David Furnish have turned down an 11 million TV offer to film their wedding. The singer Thursday revealed just his and Furnish's parents would be invited to the ceremony on December 21 the day same-sex weddings become legal in Britain. According to British newspaper the Sun, John told the firm, "Our relationship isn't up for grabs. Our love is sacred to us. It doesn't come with a price tag."

I think it’s great that the couple rejected that amount of money even though it was promised to have gone to AIDS charities if accepted. The premise that their union is not for spectacle sends out an important message to all.
