Dixie Chicks Cancel US Tour Dates | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - While the Dixie Chicks’ album “Taking the Long Way” has been the number-one album in the United States for two weeks straight, the Dixie Chicks may find themselves playing a few empty shows if they’re not careful. It’s been reported that numerous dates on the North American portion of the Dixie Chicks’ Accidents & Accusations tour have been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Allegedly, ticket outlets are selling one third of available seating for prospective venues. So, while the Dixie Chicks may be proud of their overall record sales, clearly something is lacking. Some bloggers suspect that many of the Dixie Chicks’ record sales can be attributed to a form of protest – people buying the Chicks’ CDs to show support for their anti-Bush statements. However, the people that purchase the Chicks’ CDs just to show support may not actually be listening to the CDs which would explain why the Chicks have to cancel tour dates. To some extent, many believe that while sales remain high they’re also hollow and not necessarily indicative of true fans. | ||||||||||||
