Blake Shelton, First Celebrity Donation

Lisa Rogers, 07.14.2006, 10:08 AM
(EZ-Tracks) - Blake Shelton, a Country Music Star of today, who is known first and foremost for songs like “Some Beach,” “Austin,” and Ol’ Red” donated the proceeds of his new concert, “Rain Dance,” to help the victims of wildfires in Oklahoma. Blake Shelton, a long time resident of Oklahoma, was the first celebrity to write a check of $108,000 to help ease the pain of this disaster.

While most celebrities are quick to pitch in when a disaster becomes trendy, Blake Shelton knows that you can’t prioritize suffering and that it’s best to help those around you. This makes sense as Oklahoma is not only where Shelton grew up, but where he intends to live. The 30-year old Country Music Star is quite down to Earth and has also announced that he has plans to do more benefit shows for this particular disaster.
Stand-up guy that Blake Shelton is. Hopefully, other celebrities will pitch in, too – even if Oklahoma isn’t as trendy as The Gulf Coast.
