U2 & Green Day Team Up for New Album

(EZ-Tracks) - U2 and Green Day have finally teamed up for U2’s newest album with famed producer Rick Rubin. In the studio, U2 will mix things up and join forces with pop/punk innovators: Green Day. With Green Day, U2 will record a cover of the Skids’ “The Saints Are Coming.” The Skids are from Scotland which might explain why Bono is all hopped up to honor them. Proceeds from this particular track will go to the Music Rising benefit group which was co-founded by U2’s very own “the Edge.” Music Rising is an instrument replacement fund and came to fruition in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Now that Green Day has embedded itself as a music icon, it’s time for them to take a clue from U2, and realize that charity is a great way not only to give back, but also to overstay their welcome and remain relevant in the public eye.

And thus U2 passes the torch of misery to Green Day, so that they, too, can continue saving the world from itself.
