NEW: Punk Band Poaching Lawsuit | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - What’s new in the world of punk? Apparently, poaching. Victory Records has just sued Virgin Records and EMI Music North America for poaching their contractual relationship with the pop-punk band Hawthorne Heights. Victory says that Virgin “poached” the band because according to contracts, Hawthorne owes Victory another two records. Victory alleges that everything was peaches and cream until Virgin showed up and ruined everything. It seems, they believe, that Virgin duped Hawthorne into abandoning Victory and then helped Hawthorne hire lawyers and PR firms to weasel their way out of their previous contract. Hawthorne Heights, the perfect dupes for Virgin, then apparently sued Victory asking a court to rewrite their contract. On the other hand, Victory is suing Virgin for approximately $20 million in total damages which makes their case against poaching seem slightly less than noble. Perhaps they’ve bitten off more than they can chew. | ||||||||||||
