James Brown Passes On, On Christmas

(EZ-Tracks) - James Brown, “The Godfather of Soul,” has finally passed on after being hospitalized with pneumonia. Brown finally crossed from life to death at approximately 1:45 AM, on Christmas morning. Brown was 73-years old, no spring chicken, but still young enough for his death to be particularly tragic. For the upcoming weekend, Brown had been set to play a concert at the Count Basie Theater in New Jersey; his charisma and motivation to play live music a testament to his youthful nature. Perhaps Brown’s very own song “I Got You (I Feel Good)” embodies what he was about most – and why he will be sorely missed. In addition to his many hit songs such as: “Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine),” “The Payback,” (and other various James Brown crowd pleasers), Brown was a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and has also been credited with changing the way people experience music. Typically, most songs are written with a 2 – 4 beat, Brown changed things up and played many of his songs with a 1 – 3.

James Brown may be dead, but he’ll live on through his music forever. And, every time someone enjoys his songs, he ought to be smiling down from Heaven – in spirit, Brown will always be with us.
