Known as the "Queen of Disco," Donna Summer ruled the 1970s with her special brand of pop/dance/rock that combined American soul and European synthesizer-based music to create an irresistible sound for partiers everywhere. Summer was born LaDonna Andre Gaines on December 31, 1948, and grew up in Boston's Mission Hill section.
