With lyrics about triumph over the pain of poverty, loss and rejection, the five-member ensemble Flyleaf has already made quite a name for themselves in the alt metal arena. The Christian-themed band got their start in 2002 when lead vocalist Lacey Mosley, guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, bassist Pat Seals and drummer James Culpepper began to cultivate a dedicated cult following playing gigs in and around their hometown of Temple, Texas. They also opened for NuMetal bands such as Evanescence, Flickerstick, TRUSTcompany, Saliva and Earshot.
