It took the group about ten years to emerge and earn the respect of serious band able to produce hits with the acoustic love ballad “Name.” Goo Goo Dolls’ pics do not necessarily correlate with the sound of their music. After their first hit, the group shed their heavier alternative rock roots and became more refined, smooth, and commercial. This can be seen as the turning point towards success. The late 1990’s and early 2000’s proved to be very successful for the band. The Goo Goo Dolls photos and music videos were seen everywhere and became staples on MTV.
