Known as the "Singing Fisherman," Johnny Horton was on the verge of becoming a country music superstar of the 60s when his life was cut short by tragedy. Born in Los Angeles on April 30, 1925 and raised in Tyler, Texas, Horton worked in the fishing industry in Alaska and California before deciding on a recording career.
