Although she did release a well-received album, Lily Allen is seemingly among the ranks of starlets famous simply for being famous (and outrageous).
The daughter of a comedian and film producer (and god-daughter of legendary Clash leader Joe Strummer), Allen grew up as something of a trouble maker, being expelled from several of Britain's most exclusive schools.
In 2006, Allen released her debut album, Alright, Still, produced by sometimes Amy Winehouse collaborator, Mark Ronson. A sassy collection of cheeky pop numbers often set to an upbeat ska/reggae vibe, Allen's combination of sweetly retro-puffy party dress costumes and sharp-tongued barbs made hits such as "Smile" irresistible radio smashes and landed her a guest spot on Saturday Night Live.
Following the success of Alright, Still, Allen continued to make headlines for her romance and break-up with a member of the popular techno outfit Chemical Brothers and for her increasingly wild behavior and antics.
As of 2008, Allen was reportedly working on her follow-up album, tentatively titled Stuck on the Naughty Step (getting put on the "naughty step" is the British version of giving a misbehaving child a "time out").
When Allen's sophomore album finally hit shelves in early 2009, the title had been changed to It's Not Me, It's You.
