Now forever associated with the words sham and fraud, Milli Vanilli came together in 1988 when German record producer Frank Farian met Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan (Rob and Fab) while they were living in Munich and decided that their good looks and energy could make them a successful pop duo. (Never mind that they couldn't sing.) Dubbed 'Milli Vanilli,' the two became almost instant successes with such tunes as "Blame It On the Rain" and "Girl You Know It's True." Their debut album sold over seven million copies, and they won a 1989 Grammy as best new artist.
