Formed in 1961 in New York City, the trio of Peter, Paul and Mary were the most popular
folk act of their generation, and their legendary tunes are still beloved by young and old alike. The group was created and managed by Albert Grossman, who sought to establish a folk "supergroup" by bringing together "a tall blonde (Mary Travers), a funny guy (Paul Stookey), and a good looking guy (Peter Yarrow)".
