Named after their guitarist's ' "train-wreck heap of a car," a Plymouth Reliant K, the Canton, Ohio-based Relient K are bringing fresh blood to the Christian punk-pop scene. The band was formed in 1998 and originally consisted of vocalist/guitarist/pianist Matt Thiessen, guitarist Matthew Hoopes, bassist Brian Pittman, and drummer Stephen Cushman. The band's first demo, All Work and No Play, caught the attention of popular Christian band dc Talk's Toby McKeehan (tobyMac), who later signed the band to his label, Gotee Records.
