Known to most as Selena, the Mexican- American singer quickly became the “Queen of Tejano music.” Selena released her first album at the young age of twelve, and she quickly rose to fame in the late 1980’s. Selena pictures, fashion style, and image became the most popular in Latino communities across North America. The songstress received awards including Female Vocalist of the Year in 1987 at the Tejano Music Awards and a Grammy in 1994 for Best Mexican-American Album. The rising starlet was killed at the age of 23 by her fan club president. After her death, the star’s popularity continued to flourish. Selena photos and music were made into a movie by Warner Brothers starring Jennifer Lopez in 1997. Hundreds of fans still bring candles and Selena pics to her memorial site today.
