Shania Twain was born Eileen Regina Edwards in Ontario, Canada on August 8th 1965. As one of five children in a poor family, Shania worked at a young age singing in clubs to help support her family. After pursuing a music career for many years, she finally caught her big break when entertainment lawyer Dick Frank heard her sing which led her to signing her first record contract with Mercury Nashville Records.
