While gangsta and hardcore rap music
may be practically synonymous, it’s important to know that hardcore
rap music came first. Gangsta rap represents the evolution of hardcore
rap into a more specialized genre. Hardcore rap music, like gangsta, is
most recognizable by its aggressive lyrics and hard hitting beats, the
only difference is that hardcore rap music does not necessarily include
gangsta themes; a perfect example of this is the existence of hardcore
Christian rap.
Although, hardcore rap music originated on the East Coast
in the 1980’s, West Coast hardcore rap artists soon challenged the
reign of East Coast hardcore rap music. Dr. Dre, Ice-T, and Snoop Dogg,
among other hardcore rap artists from the West Coast quickly became the
“spokesmen” of the hardcore rap music genre.
It seemed that West Coast hardcore rap music was all there
was until hardcore rap artists from the East Coast, like the Wu-Tang Clan,
made strides in the hardcore rap music genre. Listen to free hardcore
rap songs to get a taste of their music.
As a testament to their talent, many of the hardcore rap
artists from Wu-Tang Clan also went on to have successful solo careers
and personas. Most notable among them are Method Man, Ol’ Dirty
Bastard, and RZA, although, many can name all of the hardcore rap artists
from this group with ease – the remaining members are GZA, Ghostface
Killah, U-God, Inspectah Deck, and Masta Killa. One of their songs “C.R.E.A.M”
standing for “Cash Rules Everything Around Me” quickly became
a hardcore rap music classic. If you haven’t heard it, look for
it amongst free hardcore rap songs.
Other free hardcore rap songs that won’t let you
down come from hardcore rap artists like DMX (another East Coast rapper)
and Eminem. Look for free hardcore rap songs from these MCs and you’ll
see why they’re two of the biggest hardcore rap stars today. DMX
and Eminem are also recognizable from movie roles.
If you are itching to see another side of hardcore
rap, check out hardcore Christian rap. You’ll be able to
find plenty of free hardcore rap songs from religious artists like Spiritual
Warrior on his hardcore Christian rap album “Warfare.” Other
Hardcore Christian rap artists you should check out are Bruthaz Grimm,
Exit Life, and TOC “The Thug Scholar.” Big King is another
hardcore Christian rapper that spices things up with a little gangsta
flavor, but his beats are straight up heavenly as is the case with most
hardcore rap music.
