Lifehouse seemed to appear from nowhere when it hit the top of the charts with its 2000 debut album, No Name Face, and the huge rock single “Hanging by a Moment.” The song was enthusiastically embraced by radio and MTV, making it one of the most played songs of 2001.
Musically, Lifehouse offers a variety of pop-rock that offers the energy of Jimmy Eat World, Live or U2 at times, blended with the apt balladry and melody of the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20.

The band’s penchant for inspirational songs often earns them the label of “Christian rock,” fitting because the members were formerly involved in an explicitly Christian rock band called Blyss.
The band released its sophomore effort, Stanley Climbfall in 2002, followed by Lifehouse in 2005. 2007’s Who We Are found the group shifting away from its highly successful ballad formula in favor of a more rock-oriented sound. While 2002’s Stanley Climbfall scored a hit with the prom-ready ballad “You and Me,” the group has failed to recapture the exceptional momentum of its debut effort.
