30 Seconds to Mars music biography continued...
Jared Leto made a name for himself in the acting world as the star crush of the series, opposite Claire Danes.
With the show long gone, and many other roles filmed in the meantime, Leto set out to pursue the second career sought by many actors: rock star.
Surprisingly, Leto's transition has been remarkably smooth. 30STM won a considerable fanbase with the release of its self-titled 2002 debut album. The group forgoes straight-ahead pop or rock in favor of synth-tinged prog-rock.
The group's penchant for costumes and theatrics should come as no surprise given Leto's background. The band is known to wear matching uniforms with a spacesuit quality to them, while the spacey imagery calls to mind another glam-rock alien, David Bowie.
2005's A Beautiful Lie included the song "From Yesterday," the video for which was reportedly the first by an American rock band to be shot entirely in China.
