69 Boyz music biography continued...
Ski (of Chill Deal, Quad City DJs and 95 South), and consists of rappers Van "Thrill Da Playa" Bryant, Barry "Fast" Wright, Greg "Slow" Thomas, and Rottweiler Mike Mike. The name of the group derives from the fact that all of its members were born in 1969. 69 Boyz had success in the summer of 1994 with its first single, "Tootsee Roll", from their debut album 199Quad. The song, which sampled Art of Noise's "Moments in Love," went double platinum and reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts. Tootsee Roll" became a nationwide hit because of its use in a popular movie shortly after the album release. Other fairly successful singles they have had include "Kitty Kitty", also from the album 199Quad, which peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100, and 1998's "Woof Woof", written for the feature film Dr. Dolittle starring Eddie Murphy, and also appearing on their second album, The Wait Is Over. The song reached #31 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2000, the group released 2069, which spawned the single, "How We Roll." This was followed by 2001's Trunk Funk 101, further testimony to the group's potential.
