André Tanneberger otherwise known as
ATB is one of the leading DJs and electronic dance music mavens in
Europe and throughout the world. He was born on February 26, 1973 in Freiberg, Saxony, Germany, and belonged to the group Sequential One before going solo in 1998 as ATB. His very first dance track as a soloist, "9pm (Till I Come), was a smash hit that topped the United Kingdom music charts in 1999 and is widely regarded as the UK's first trance number one. oughout the world. This guitar sound, which Tanneberger accidentally found while experimenting in the studio, became the trademark of early ATB songs featured on his debut album, Movin’ Melodies. This groundbreaking album was written, produced, arranged, and engineered by ATB himself.
At the end of October 2000, Tanneberger released his sophomore album, Two Worlds. For the album ATB collaborated with Heather Nova, Enigma, and the Canadian rock band Wild Strawberries. The release was a double CD, the first consisting of more dancefloor-friendly tunes and the second, more mellow. In mid-2000 Tannenberg released the single "Killer," a remake of the Seal and
Adamski track, with Drew
Williams on vocals. In 2002, a new full length album, Dedicated, hit the shelves. ATB continues to evolve and change with every album. His current style involves more vocals and varied sounds, with frequent pianos. According to the official world DJ rankings, governed by The DJ List, ATB is currently ranked fourth, only behind fellow German trance DJ Paul van Dyk and Dutch trance DJs Tiësto and Armin van Buuren. Personally, ATB is known to hang out with trance producer
Sash! and is also known to prefer listening to chill out trance rather than the upbeat, vocal trance that drives his fans crazy for more.
