Aerosmith music biography continued...

Steven Tyler, guitar legend Joe Perry, Tom Hamiltom on the bass, Brad Whitford as the second guitarist and Joey Kramer on the drums. The band got their big break singing with Columbia Records in 1972 after touring all over New York and Massachusetts.

Aerosmith hit big with their self-titled debut album which was released in 1973. "Dream On" was the first single launched by Aerosmith on the rock and roll map. Aerosmith's second album, Get Your Wings, spent a total of 86 weeks on the charts as a benefit from their constant touring. In 1975 Aerosmith's third album, Toys in the Attic, was their breakthrough record. "Sweet Emotion" catapulted the band to the top of the charts and kept their album in the top 10 through 1976. Also in 1976, the band released the infamous "Walk This Way," that was later remixed by Run D.M.C.

After releasing several more albums, Aerosmith went through a series of guitar changes and new line ups. When the band reunited with their original line up for their 1984 tour, guitarist Joe Perry collapsed during the middle of a show. This was a major wake up call for the band, which was rumored to have a serious drug and alcohol abuse problem. In 1986 Tyler and Perry returned from rehab, clean and with a fresh new outlook for the band. When Run D.M.C. covered "Walk This Way," history was made. This was one of the first times in history the newly formed Hip-Hop and rock & roll were fused as one. Aerosmith continued to make hit records throughout the 80's and 90's. Aerosmith is still rocking hard today and will continue for a long time to come.
