with a Western swing band on the weekends. The brothers taught themselves to play several instruments and went on to play in different bands and at clubs in between attending college at the University of Florida. David wrote the tune Spiders and Snakes, which was picked up by recording artist Jim Stafford, and gave the Bellamy Brothers the money they needed to move to Los Angeles to pursue their musical goals. The duo were signed to Curb Records in 1975, and one year later came out with "Let Your Love Flow," a crossover tune that hit #1 on the pop charts. The Bellamy Brothers quickly released their debut album, also called Let Your Love Flow, which became nearly as successful as the single. In 1979, the brothers changed direction and scored a #1 country hit with the tongue-in-cheek "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me." The Bellamy Brothers' success continued in 1980, when they scored two straight number one hits, "Sugar Daddy" and "Dancin' Cowboys." During the year, they earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group and the CMA named them the Most Promising Group of the Year. During the next decade, The Bellamy Brothers success on the country charts would continue unabated, even when they experimented with tunes like the reggae-tinged "Get into Reggae Cowboy" and other songs which showed off their lyrical growth like "Old Hippie" and "Kids of the Baby Boom." For two kids of the Baby Boom, they were doing exceedingly well.

At the beginning of the 90s, the Bellamy Brothers' audience base began to shrink. The duo founded their own record label in order to stay relevant and did release some minor hits like the Top 25 "Cowboy Beat," which proved that the Bellamy Brothers continued to hold on to a dedicated group of fans The duo released the album Angels & Outlaws Vol. 1, singing their best-known songs with other country artists, in 2005. It was the summation of a career that had delighted fans for three decades.
