Big Bad Voodoo Daddy music biography continued...
quickly built up a following by playing clubs and lounges regularly. The band launched two albums, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 cult comedy Swingers. They were soon after signed by Capitol Records, which released a self-titled debut, followed by Americana Deluxe and This Beautiful Life. By the time the band came together for another studio effort, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy had sold over three million albums, performed at Super Bowl XXXIII with Stevie Wonder and Gloria Estefan, and had their music used in over 60 film and TV trailers. In 2003, the group came out with their fifth studio album, Save My Soul, which was inspired by a trip to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, where BBVD were exposed to Cajun swamp music. A live album and DVD and holiday-themed album were released in 2004. In 2009, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy released How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway, which served as an even deeper exploration of the big band sound that had made BBVD superstars.
