Bobby “Boris” Pickett was born on February 11, 1938 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He watched many horror films growing up. This is attributed to his father’s career as a theater manager. Pickett also served in the Vietnam War in the United States Army.

In 1962, the hit “Monster Mash” was released. Pickett helped to co-write this song with Leonard Capizzi. The single sold millions. “Monster Mash” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice that year in the weeks preceding Halloween.

Pickett’s most recent project before his death was “Climate Mash.” Bobby “Boris” Pickett wrote this song in protest of the inaction on global warming. Unfortunately, Pickett died in April of 2007 due to complications of leukemia. Although he is no longer here, the world will always remember him for “Monster Mash.”
