Bone Thugs-N-Harmony music biography continued...

worldwide. After keeping a low profile for a few years, they are expected to release an upcoming album.

Originally named B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e, the group was formed in the early 1990s in Cleveland, Ohio and included members Krayzie Bone (Anthony Henderson), Layzie Bone (Steven Howse), Wish Bone (Charles Scruggs) and Bizzy Bone (Bryon Anthony McCane). Their initial name was established when Layzie Bone observed the tag on a building while he was on his way to prison. Their first album Faces Of Death was recorded in 1993 and was released underground. Layzie's brother Flesh-N-Bone (Stanley Vernell Howse) was later added to the group. They eventually headed to Los Angeles with one-way Greyhound tickets determined to find N.W.A rapper Eric "Eazy-E" Wright to audition for him. After numerous attempts to contact him, they finally reached him and auditioned over the phone, yet he never returned the call he claimed he would. They later were informed that he was going to be performing in Cleveland so they returned home and auditioned for him in person backstage. Eazy-E quickly signed them to his label Ruthless Records recommending they change their name to "Thugs-N-Harmony", however they compromised by keeping "Bone" to form "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony". Flesh-N-Bone was not present for the signing, therefore minimally featured on their albums yet still considered a member.

Their debut album with Ruthless, Creepin On Ah Come Up (EP) was released in June 1994. The album received much acclaim with the singles "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" which sold 500,000 copies and "Foe The Luv Of $". The album was eventually certified 4x platinum. Their guru, Eazy-E, passed away prior to the release of their follow up album from AIDS related complications. E. 1999 Eternal was issued July 25, 1995 and featured their homage to Eazy "Tha Crossroads". The song became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, sold over two million copies and earned a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. With the success of "Tha Crossroads" and "1st Of Tha Month", the album was certified 6x platinum and is their most successful record to date.

Bone released their double disc The Art of War in 1997. The album's theme focused on family and God through smoother, more serene tracks. However, a portion of the album thrived on violent lyrics attacking their rival rap groups who claim to have originated the "Cleveland sound". The album sold 394,000 copies in the first week and was later certified 4x platinum (each album sold was considered as two units according to RIAA certification guidelines). The 2000 album BTNH Resurrection extensively featured Flesh-N-Bone appearing on 14 of the 15 tracks. The album debuted at number two on the charts and sold 2 million copies.

With each new album released, Bone's popularity was slowly diminishing. The records subsequently released such as Thug World Order, Bone 4 Life, and Behind The Harmony experienced lackluster performance on the charts as its members suffered personal problems within the group. Flesh-N-Bone was sentenced to 11 years in prison under several gun charges and Bizzy Bone officially departed from the group in 2005.
