Boney M. was a Euro-Disco group with success during the ‘70s. Boney M. consists of Marcia Barrett, Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell. The group started when the producer Frank Farian recorded “Baby Do You Wanna Bump” which was released in 1975. Soon after the sensation of Boney M.’s first album, the Euro-Disco group hit big again with “Ma Baker” in 1977. That same year Boney M. struck again with “Belfast” which broke the Top Ten charts in October of 1977. Boney M.’s most successful album was “Nightflight to Venus.” This album was important for the band because it was their only U.S. Top 40 hit. The album was catapulted by the single “Rivers of Babylon,” which was also the second-biggest selling single in U.K. chart history.
The group continued to make hits throughout the late ‘70s. Boney M. topped the charts with over 150 Million Units sold all over the world. The band continued to make hits with an ever-changing band lineup until the early ‘90s.
