Chamillionaire music biography continued...
DJ Michael "5000" Watts at a Houston hip hop station. Soon, Chamillionaire and Wall became regular staples on Houston's mixtape circuit, appeared on several of Watts's mixtapes, and became permanent members of the Swishahouse label. Chamillionaire and Wall started their own group, The Color Changin' Click, and in 2002 collaborated for the album Get Ya Mind Correct, which would go on to sell over 150,000 copies. Chamillionaire's first major solo release The Sound of Revenge was released through Chamillitary Entertainment and Universal Records in November 2005. The album debuted and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and yielded two hit singles-- "Turn It Up" and "Ridin." The latter single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Its video also was named "Best Rap Video" in the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. By 2007, when he won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Ridin," Chamillionaire had arrived.
To promote his next album, Chamillionaire released Mixtape Messiah 3 as an introduction. The rapper then released his sophomore effort, Ultimate Victory, in September 2007. The album's claim to fame was that not a single profanity was uttered by Chamillionaire in any of its songs. In November 2008, the artist announced his plans for his third album, Venom, for release in early 2009. His seventh installment in the Mixtape Messiah series was to be a "prelude" to Venom. The first single off "Venom" was "Creepin' (Solo)", which featured The Game and Ludacris and reached #1 on the Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. Meanwhile, Camillionaire announced that Mixtape Messiah 7 would be the final installment of the "Mixtape Messiah" series, which had already established him as the leading figure of this burgeoning form of hip hop expression. To even the casual urban music observer, Chamillionaire had ridden to the top of the genre.
