Mark Caderon, Bryan Abrams, Sam Watters, and Kevin Thornton. CMB got there big break, after performing for Robert 'kool' Bell, (from Kool & The Gang ), who urged them to move to New York to pursue a record deal. Signing to Giant Records, they broke through in 1991 with "I Wanna Sex You Up" which was used in the soundtrack to the popular movie New Jack City. Released as a single, the song topped the R&B charts, went Top Five pop, and enjoyed double-platinum sales. They followed it with the gold-selling "I Adore Mi Amor," which hit #1 on both the pop and R&B charts. It was followed by the release of Color Me Badd's debut album, C.M.B., which sold over three million copies and spawned the gold-selling number one pop hit "All 4 Love" as well as the Top 20 singles "Thinkin' Back" and "Slow Motion." Color Me Badd's next single was another movie soundtrack song, "Forever Love" from Mo' Money, their sixth consecutive single to reach the Top 20. In January 1992, CMB were awarded the Favorite Single R&B/Soul trophy at the 19th annual American Music Awards. They finished 1992 second only to Boyz II Men as the top pop singles act of the year.



The group's third album Time and Chance was released in November 1993. This album represented a slight shift in musical style for Color Me Badd. Working with top producers including David Foster, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, a more soulful and funky sound had clearly emerged. This new direction was not embraced by fans, and the album stalled on the Billboard charts. Still, CMB soldiered on, and released Now and Forever in 1996. Critics applauded the album, but again sales were tepid. After moving to Epic Records, Color Me Badd's fifth album, Awakening, was released in July 1998. The group again received critical acclaim for their vocal harmonies, but sales were not great. Epic dropped the group and they officially disbanded in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable tunes.
