Daniel Bedingfield music biography continued...
12, 1979 in Auckland, New Zealand, Bedingfield moved to London with his family when he was three years old. He discovered his rapping and boom box skills while at school and, along with his sisters Natasha and Nikola, started a group called the DNA Algorhythm. Inspired by a girlfriend from Leeds, Daniel Bedingfield recorded "Gotta Get Thru This" in his bedroom with a microphone plugged to his home computer. In December 2001, just a few weeks after its release by the independent Relentless Records, his song went straight to the top on the UK singles chart, spurred on by the underground garage music scene. The album of the same name was also mostly recorded in his bedroom and proved a huge worldwide hit. The singles 'James Dean (I Wanna Know), 'If You're Not the One' and 'Never Gonna Leave Your Side' all helped to secure his place as one of the leading musical talents of 2003 and helped him score a record deal with Polydor. In 2004, while holidaying in New Zealand he crashed his jeep and had to be cut from the wreck. Unable to travel due to neck injuries, he accepted his BRIT award for Best British Male Artist via satellite.
After recovering from his injuries, Bedingfield Fully returned to the studio to work on his 2004 release, 'Second First Impression' and teamed up with his sister, Natasha, for a memorable performance at the 2005 BRIT Awards show. (Natasha and Daniel hold the Guinness World Record for being the only siblings to have had solo number ones in UK chart history. Similarly, they have each cracked the Top 10 in Australia, United States, Canada, and Europe.) In an April 2007 interview with the New Zealand Herald, the singer said that "after a three-year hiatus, following his album Second First Impression, he now has three albums recorded and awaiting release." Bedingfield's millions of fans can hardly wait.
