Dr.Dre music biography continued...
1965 in South Central, Los Angeles. Dre first performed in the '80s, performing at clubs and house parties with the World Class Wreckin' Cru. By 1986 Dr. Dre moved away from the party scene and began writing for Ruthless Records with his partner Ice Cube. Eazy-E was the label owner and drug dealer who had formed the group N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitude).
In 1987, N.W.A. hit the rap scene big with the debut album Straight Outta Compton, one of the first hardcore rap records. The album became an underground hit even though MTV and radio stations did not support it. "F*ck the Police" caused such a big stir that the FBI informed the group they were walking on thin ice. Dre continued to make music with the N.W.A. until the early '90s when Eazy and Dre had some differences.
In 1992 Dre signed a deal with Suge Knight at Death Row Records. His first solo single, "Deep Cover", from the movie titled Deep Cove generated attention towards Dre's music. Dre's 1992 debut album, The Chronic, is one of the most influential rap albums of all time. With collaborations from Snoop Dog and step brother Warren G., Dre's The Chronic was a hip-hop masterpiece. Some of his biggest hits were "Nuthin' but a G' Thang,", " Dre Day," and "Let Me Ride."
After the huge success of The Chronic, Dre continued to produce for other artists on Death Row such as Snoop Dogg and Tupac. After releasing one album on Aftermath and flopping, Dre released The Chronic 2001. This put Dre back on the map and solidified his spot as hip-hop royalty. Today Dr. Dre continues to work with his Aftermath Label working with stars such as Eminem and 50 Cent.
