Clapton ran into trouble during the early 70’s with a heroin habit that left a burden on his career. After kicking his heroin addiction, Clapton began recording with a new sound, of more laid back commercial rock. Through the late 70’s and 80’s Clapton recorded numerous hits including “I Shot the
Sheriff,” “Lay Down Sally,” and “I’ve Got a Rock ‘n’ Roll Heart.” Clapton toured throughout much of the 90’s but was struck by tragedy when his four year old son died falling 50 stories from a Manhattan apartment building. After taking several years off Clapton taped an MTV segment, “Unplugged” and was nominated for nine Grammy awards. Clapton recorded through the late 90’s releasing albums with
