Fabolous music biography continued...

on November 18, 1977, Fabolous took rap seriously from an early age and started out freestyling for DJ Clue's local New York radio show. After releasing a few singles, Fabolous was teamed with teamed with Nate Dogg to produce his first single "Can't Deny It". The song charted in the Billboard Hot 100, and the subsequent album, Ghetto Fabolous, achieved platinum certification. It reached number four on the Billboard 200 and had three singles which charted on Rhythmic Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. When Fabolous returned in 2003 with his sophomore album, Street Dreams, he capitalized on his initial renown, racking up three major hits: "Trade It All," "Can't Let You Go," and "Into You" -- the latter two breaking into the Top Five of Billboard's Hot 100. Later that year, More Street Dreams, Pt. 2: The Mixtape hit stores and reaffirmed Fabolous street cred after his string of pop successes.

The soaring young rapper took off most of 2005 and 2006. Right before the scheduled release of his next album, in late 2006, he was in the news for being shot in the leg and subsequently charged with weapons possession when police discovered two guns in the car that ferried him to the hospital. Def Jam -- who signed Fab after sending Musiq to Atlantic in a unique trade situation - released Fab's From Somethin' to Nothin' in June 2007. Fabolous has also been featured on several popular R&B artists' songs. He has collaborated with Hollywood Records' singer Jesse McCartney in a remix to the single She's No You. He has also collaborated with South Korean singer Se7en in his American debut single "This is My Year." Of the rapper, Rolling Stone wrote: "Breezy, monumentally conceited, and blessed with an agile flow and mind for wordplay, Fabolous came closer than anyone to duplicating Jay-Z's singular personality at a time when the latter ruled hip-hop radio." Indeed Fab shown that when a talented artist takes them on, rap and pop can peacefully coexist and prove wildly popular.
