Firehouse music biography continued...

Bill Leverty, drummer Michael Foster, and bassist Perry Richardson. At first the band recorded demos by day and played hotel shows by night. An executive with Epic Records saw one of their shows in New York and signed them to a contract. The band's self-titled debut in 1990, FireHouse, was met with much critical acclaim. The band won the American Music Award for Best New Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Band of 1991, Metal Edge Magazine's Best New Band of 1991, Young Guitar Magazine's Best Newcomer of 1991, and Music Life Magazine's reader's pop poll Best Newcomer of the Year 1992. The band's first album sold over two million copies in the United States, and was certified double platinum. The band's third and most successful single, Love of a Lifetime, reached #5 and sold 500,000 copies. Other singles also charted including Don't Treat Me Bad at #14. Although the band's follow-up album, Hold Your Fire, was not as successful as their debut it was ultimately certified gold, while their third album, aptly titled 3, made the band a big hit overseas and led to touring opportunities in countries like India and Thailand. After the release of their next album, they toured heavily throughout Asia. They also continued to tour heavily in the United States as well, performing on the first ever "Rock Never Stops Tour" all over America in 1998, proving indeed that straight ahead hard rock still had a substantial international audience.



In December, 2004, after some line-up changes, FireHouse became the first major international rock band to play concert dates in northeast India, attracting some of the largest concert crowds that that section of the country had ever seen. The band continued to tour in 2005, 2006, and launched another tour in 2007 visiting the Midwest United States and playing at several festivals including Rocklahoma. As for the future, C.J. Snare has said, "To do something that you love... and have fans all over the world and be able to make a living at it. As long as that's perpetuated, I don't see any reason to ever stop." Let's hope not.
