to play the piano at age 8, attended the Berklee College of Music and started performing at the Manhattan clubs in his early twenties. His big break came when his tune "I Don't Want to Be" was chosen as the theme song for the teen drama One Tree Hill. The song has also been performed on American Idol and other televised Idol contest around the world. Two of DeGraw's other songs, "Follow Through" and "Chariot," have also achieved popularity and radio play, and have been promoted on supporting slots for such artists at Jason Mraz, Maroon 5 and the Allman Brothers Band. After three low profile albums, 2001's indie-released Gavin Live, 2003's Chariot and 2004's Chariot (Stripped), DeGraw hit the big time with his self-titled 2008 effort, which peaked at #7 on the US Billboard Chart. The album featured the hit singles, "In Love with a Girl," "Cheated On Me," and "She Holds a Key". DeGraw's third album, Free was released in March 2009. The first single was "Stay," which is exactly what DeGraw's fans hope he'll do.
