Ginuwine music biography continued...
started performing in a local hip hop group at age 12. Moving to New York, Ginuwine was introduced to Timbaland who produced the singer's first demo, "Pony," and which turned out to be strong enough to land him a record deal with Sony. Ginuwine's Timbaland-produced debut album, Ginuwine...The Bachelor, was released in 1996 with "Pony" becoming a number one R&B smash, and also reaching number six on the pop charts. The album became an eventual double-platinum hit, spawning several more R&B hits over the next year, including "Tell Me Do U Wanna," "I'll Do Anything/I'm Sorry," "Holler," and "Only When Ur Lonely." As a result of the album's success, demand for Timbaland's production services exploded, and Ginuwine became a genuine sex symbol.
Ginuwine released his sophomore album, 100 Ginuwine, in early 1999. Again produced by Timbaland, it entered the pop charts at number five and yielded another major crossover hit in "So Anxious." "What's So Different?" and "None of Ur Friends Business" were also became hits, thanks to steady play on R&B radio. 100 Ginuwine became the singer's second straight platinum album. He was next put to the test in 2001 when he released an album called The Life, which was not produced by Timbaland. Nevertheless, it was another success, debuting at number three on the charts and once again going platinum. Further, the second single, a ballad called "Differences," -became Ginuwine's biggest pop hit ever, climbing to number four in late 2001. In the summer of 2002, Ginuwine returned to the Top Ten thanks to a duet with P. Diddy on "I Need a Girl, Pt. 2." Ginuwine continues to stay relevant, collaborating with such artists as Tank, Tyrese, and rapper Young Knight, and demonstrating that superior talent never goes out of style.
