Glenn Frey: The Heat Is On- # 2- One of the founding members of the Eagles, Glen Fey had been releasing solo efforts since 82' when he landed the # 2 song on the charts in the fall of 85' with "The Heat Is On". From the Eddie Murphy blockbuster movie "Beverly Hills Cop”, it was Frey's first Top 10 hit. He would also appear on TV in "Miami Vice" and "The Wiseguy" and his own series "South of Sunset" in 93'.

Glenn Frey is most recognized as one of the founding members of the renowned rock group the Eagles. Frey and Eagles’ frontman, Don Henley, developed the band’s Southern California sound co-writing most of their songs. Following the band’s breakup, Glenn focused on a solo career experiencing much success during the 1980s.

ears. He was 16 years old when he began playing the guitar eventually joining the Mushrooms, a local Detroit band. While forming several other rock bands during college, he became friends with Bob Seger and performed acoustic guitar and backup vocals on his track “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”. Committed to pursuing a music career, Frey moved to Los Angeles where he formed the country rock group Longbranch Pennywhistle in 1969 with John David Souther. Signed to the smalltime Amos Records, the band failed to receive any promotion which narrowed their touring perimeter to the Los Angeles area. Frey eventually left Longbranch Pennywhistle to tour with Linda Ronstadt in 1971. While on tour he met Don Henley and together they formed the Eagles.
Glenn thoroughly enjoyed his success with the Eagles from 1971 until their split in 1980. He co-wrote many songs with Henley and was featured on lead vocals in several of their hit songs, notably “Take It Easy”, “Tequila Sunrise”, “New Kid in Town”, “Peaceful Easy Feeling”, “Lyin’ Eyes”, and “Heartache Tonight”. Following the breakup, Frey released his solo debut No Fun Aloud in 1982 which featured the Top 20 hit “The One You Love”. The 1984 album The Allnighter generated the hits “You Belong to the City” and “Smuggler’s Blues” which was featured on an episode of the TV show Miami Vice in which he also guest-starred. In 1985 he contributed to the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack with his Top Ten hit “The Heat is On”. Three years later he landed a recurring role on the TV show Wiseguy. He issued his third album Soul Searchin’ in 1988 merely placing in the Top 40. His last studio album, Strange Weather, appeared in 1992 failing to place in any chart. He has since released several compilations as well as live albums, and joined the Eagles reunion in 1994. In 1998 he co-founded the independent label Mission Records with attorney Peter Lopez.
