In March 1985, Guns N’ Roses was formed in Los Angeles by Axl Rose and Tracii Gunn. The name Guns N’ Roses comes from combining the names of two former bands Axl Rose was apart of, Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns. The original band consisted of Izzy Stradlin from Hollywood Roses and Ole Beich and Rob Garner from L.A. Guns. But the band soon changed to Axl Rose who sung lead vocals, Slash who played lead guitar, Izzy Stradlin who played rhythm guitar, Duff McKagan who played bass guitar and Steven Adler who played drums.

te for Destruction was released. When it was first debuted in the U.S., the single “Welcome to the Jungle” did not do well but thrived in Europe and Japan. On the contrary, when “Sweet Child O’ Mine” came out, it took off. When “Welcome to the Jungle” was re-released and “Paradise City” was released, both catapulted the album to number 1 on the charts.

In 1988, Guns N’ Roses next album called G’N’R Lies was released. Even though G’N’R Lies produced controversies around the band, it still reached number 2 on the charts.

While recording their next album Use Your Illusion, Steve Adler was replaced with Matt Sorum who was now the new drummer. Also, Dizzy Reed, a keyboardist, became a permanent member of the band. Because they had so many songs the band released Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II.

The band went onto record many other records including The Spaghetti Incident, Decline, The New Album, Chinese Democracy.
