Hurricane Chris music biography continued...
when he got up to perform, there was silence, as if a hurricane had swept through the room. Hurricane Chris first began rapping in elementary school, where he placed in talent shows. After hearing a chant of "Hey Bay Bay!" to welcome local DJ Hollywood Bay Bay into one of the Shreveport clubs, Hurricane Chris modified the chant to "A Bay Bay" to make a hit song of the same name. Pretty soon, "A Bay Bay" meant "for sure" all over Shreveport. When Atlanta, Georgia-based producer Mr. Collipark heard the tune he helped Chris get signed to J Records. His major-label debut 51/50 Ratchet was released in October 2007. The sound of the album was inspired by ratchet, a type of crunk rap music locally popular in Shreveport. Soon afterwards, Rap-A-Lot Records released You Hear Me?, a compilation of songs Chris recorded before 51/50 Ratchet including "You Hear Me?" and "Yep". Now, nothing looks brighter coming out of Shreveport, than Hurricane Chris.
