James Morrison music biography continued...

England, Morrison as a youngster listened to the soul music that his parents loved and struck out early in life holding odd jobs while writing and performing in local clubs at night. His big break came when a demo of his material caught the ear of an A&R man at Polydor Records. Morrison was quickly signed to the label, and he went into the studio with producer Martin Terefe to record the 13 original songs that comprise Undiscovered, which hit the streets in August 2006. A well-received appearance on Jools Holland's chat show Later and an opening slot on Corinne Bailey Rae's British concert tour made Morrison a name to watch, and his songs "You Give Me Something" and "The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore" became major hits in the U.K. solidifying his status as a performer on the move.

Following appearances on national television, Morrison's album was released in March 2007 in the United States, where it debuted at #24. In 2007, Morrison was nominated for 3 BRIT Awards and won the Best British Male Solo Artist category. (Other nominations were for the Best British Breakthrough Act, Best British Single Shortlist). Following this, word of mouth about Morrison's album spread through Europe, Japan and Australia and Undiscovered went on to sell some 3 million copies worldwide. Not bad for a gentlemen who had not even reached twenty-five.
