Castro went on to become the first contestant in the history of American Idol to ever play an instrument in the American Idol stage. In the week following Castro’s performance of the song, it catapulted to #1 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart, and was ultimately certified Gold and Platinum. Castro's version of the song "Hallelujah" also briefly appeared in the #1 spot on the iTunes chart, proving that the reluctant music star was much more beloved than even he realized.
