Johnny Nash: I Can See Clearly Now-#1-1972: A child on TV in his local Houston area in the early 50s, Johnny Nash had been recording since the begging of the rock & roll era and had charted eight singles from 1957 – 1970 with moderate success including 68’s “Hold Me Tight” at #5. He relocated to Jamaica by 1970 and began recording there with the local reggae acts. “I Can See Clearly Now” was one of the first reggae style songs to make an impact on the charts and peaked at the #1 position in the fall of 72’. Reggae legend Bob Marley’s Wailers are the backing band on the record.
