York, Santana began rapping at the age of twelve and at age fifteen started the rap duo Draft Pick. In 2000, Santana made a guest performance on a track on Cam'ron's album S.D.E. and eventually joined The Diplomats, a Harlem-based hip hop group aka Dipset. He got more public attention following his appearances on Cam'Ron's 2002 singles, "Oh Boy" and "Hey Ma". In 2003, Santana's debut album From Me to U was released by Def Jam Recordings. His next album What the Game's Been Missing! contained the top-ten single "There It Go (The Whistle Song)," as well as hits "Oh Yes", and "Clockwork." Santana also recorded a collaboration album with Lil Wayne titled My Face Can't Be Felt from 2008 to 2009, and in 2008 he appeared on Ron Browz's #3 single "Pop Champagne" together with Rapper Jim Jones. In 2009, Santana released the album Born to Lose, Built to Win, proving that he, indeed, was both of those things.
