Born Lauren Keyana Palmer in Robbins, Illinois on August 26, 1993, Palmer set her sights on a career in the entertainment industry when she was barely out of diapers and her whole family picked up and moved to Los Angeles in 2004 so she could pursue her career. The role in Barbershop led to many other turns as an actress, but Palmer was dedicated to a singing career as well. After a title role in the 2006 film Akeelah and the Bee and as Mary in Disney's Jump In!, which showcased her stellar voice, Palmer signed a record deal with Atlantic Records and is currently working on her debut album. Her debut single, "All My Girlz," was featured on the Akeelah and the Bee soundtrack, while November 2006's performance in Carson, California for VH1's Save the Music Battle of the High School Marching Bands, marked her first ever stadium performance in front of thousands of people. She recently finished her new song "Keep it Movin'" and sings the debut single "Come On Come On" from the upcoming Hello Kitty album "Hello World" (launching Fall 2008). Not bad for a teenage girl from a small town in the nation's heartland.
