2001 the duo -- in two takes and in less than hour -- recorded the sexy "Turn Me On." The R&B-flavored soca ballad was all the rage at the 2001 St. Vincent Carnival and quickly spread to neighboring islands by radio. Soon Lyttle was signed to a management company who shipped copies of "
Turn Me On" to DJs in the U.S. and
Europe. It was officially released as a single in the UK in late 2003 and reached number two in its first week, spending seven weeks on the top ten of the UK Singles Chart. The single was released in the U.S. in 2004 and the video was added to MTV on May 24, 2004. "Turn Me On" eventually went gold in the U.S. and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Lyttle’s self-titled debut album was released on July 27, 2004 and placed well on the charts outside of the US.
Critics have hailed Lyttle’s “eclectic and innovative fusion of music - traditional soca, American R&B, and Jamaican dancehall” for setting dancehalls across the globe on fire. “With its irrepressible beat, sweet melody, and a vocal performance that's at once mellow, intense, and inviting,” music lovers have deemed Lyttle’s smash single, "Turn Me On" - as the biggest soca hit to emerge from the Caribbean in 20 years. More recently, Lyttle has performed Along with Byron Lee and Arrow, at the Cricket World Cup 2007 opening ceremony in Greenfield, Trelawny, Jamaica.
