Australia. The sister of Dannii Minogue (of Young Talent Time fame), young Kylie also went on to appear in several Australian soap operas, including the highly popular Neighbors, during which time she released her debut single, a remake of the pop track "Loco-Motion." Re-titled "Locomotion", the Australian recording spent seven weeks at number one on the Australian music charts, and was the highest-selling single in Australia for the 1980s. As a result of the exposure, Minogue was spotted by some powerful British record producers and songwriters who signed her to a recording contract and turned into a pop idol with a string of hit singles like "I Should Be So Lucky," "Got To Be Certain," "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi," "Hand On Your Heart," "Wouldn't Change A Thing," and "Never Too Late," all off her debut album, Kylie, and her sophomore effort, Enjoy Yourself (released in 1988 and 1989, respectively). With the start of the 90s, and a role in the movie Delinquent, Minogue transformed her image into that of a seductress and gained even wider media exposure and with it more fans of her recordings and elaborate stage performances.



Although she disappeared from the spotlight for several years in the mid to late 90s, Minogue made a huge comeback in the new millennium, first co-starring in the hit movie Moulin Rouge! (2001) and then releasing a series of chart topping albums, including Greatest Hits 87-97 (2003) and Body Language (2004). It was during the latter release that she also came out with her own line of lingerie. After surviving a breast cancer scare, Minogue began performing and recording again in 2005. She released her tenth studio album, X, in November 2007, was awarded with an OBE in 2007 for services to music, and then won the International Female Solo Artist award at the Brit Awards in February 2008. She has now sold in excess of 60 million albums and remains one of the darlings of the international music world.
