Laura Pausini is using the power of music to break down international barriers and spread joy throughout the world. Laura Pausini was born May 16th, 1974, in Solarolo, northern Italy. er Pausini the World Music Award as the Best Selling Italian Artist. Her self-titled debut was released in Spanish the following year and won her fame the Latin Pop markets. In 1997, Pausini went on her first world tour, performing even in Brazil, because she had also learned how to speak Portuguese. In October 2001, she released her first Best Of... compilation, raising her total albums sold figure to more than 20 million copies .She was also nominated for five Latin Grammys.
In November 2002, Pausini released her first English album, From the Inside, whose first single, "Surrender," made her a staple on American radio. The album did not fare as well as expected, but in 2005 Pausini returned to singing in Spanish with the album Resta in Ascolto Escucha hitting the top of the music charts and earning her a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in the Latin Grammy class. Shortly after winning that Grammy Award, Warner released a triumphant live CD/DVD, Live in Paris 05, to capitalize on the momentum. The label then gave Pausini free reign to record an album of covers, Io Canto/Yo Canto (2006), consisting of Italian pop/rock songs mainly from the '90s that had greatly influenced her.
