Cowell music mogul Clive Davis, Lewis was soon being touted as the next Mariah Carey.
With the US debut of her 2008 single, "Bleeding Love," Lewis was well on her way to living up to the hype. Quickly breaking sales records, the single moved over 200,000 copies during its first week of sale.
Although Lewis's debut album, Spirit, was nominated for several Mercury Prizes (think: British Grammys), she failed to win any of the coveted awards.
