vers. In 1999 they changed their name to Los Bunkers with Alvaro as lead vocalist, Francisco and Mauricio Durán on guitars, Gonzalo on the bass and Manuel Lagos on drums. In 1999, they released a self-produced album with clear mob band influences. It included such songs as Fantasías animadas de ayer y hoy, Buscando cuadros, No sé and Jamás, Though the album did well locally, the group hungered for more and moved to Santiago, Chile in 2000 to obtain further exposure. There, they promoted themselves through endless live dates and eventually signed a deal with independent label Big Sur Records, delivering a record that was an unqualified hit. This, in turn, led to a 2002 deal with Sony Records Chile.
With Sony, Los Bunkers recorded their second album Canción de lejos. They followed with hits like No me hables de sufrir and Canción para mañana, and in 2004 embarked on an extensive tour throughout Chile. In September of that same year, they received a nomination for a Latin American MTV Video Music Award. The band then signed a contract with La Oreja, Chile's most important independent label, and in 2005 recorded their fourth album which included the rousing anthem Ven Aquí. They followed-up in 2006 with Vida de Perros. Though they sing exclusively in Spanish, Los Bunker’s driving songs have touched audiences who speak in all tongues. As they conquer new markets, fans can rest assured that their dedication to their craft will only grow.
