Los Temerarios music biography continued...
of the group can be traced back to the late 70s, and brothers Adolfo and Gustavo Ángel Alba from Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. They started out playing at parties and ultimately landed a record deal with CBS Mexico, on which they recorded with limited success. In the early 80s, they signed with the indie label Disa, and started to record songs that found a Mexican audience. By 1991, the group consisted of Adolfo on keyboards, Gustavo on guitar, cousin Fernando Angel on bass, Mario Ortiz on drums and Carlos Abrego on percussion. The release of Mi Vida Eres Tú (My Life Is You) in that year catapulted the group to superstardom. From their unique sound to the way the group dressed (jacket and ties) when performing, everything about Los Temerarios struck fans as special. The album went on to earn five Billboard awards nominations in the Latin categories. It was followed by the 1993 release of Tu Última Cancion (Your Last Song), which included "Una Tarde Fue" (It Was an Afternoon), a song that featured steel guitar and showed the group's willingness to experiment. Camino del Amor, from 1995, continued in the same vein, as the group straddled the line between pop balladry, influenced by American performers, and the mariachi-influenced style from the Mexican sonic template. Gustavo tried out a ranchera-influenced vibrato vocal on "Por Qué Te Conocí" ("Why Did I Get To Know You"), the first single from 1998 album Cómo Te Recuerdo (How I Remember You) and the group's second number one on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks in the span of a year. By this time, Los Temerarios had become a household name with Latin music lovers.
In fall 2000, Los Temerarios collected an award for Best Grupero Performance for En La Madrugada Se Fue at the first annual Latin Grammy Awards, marking the beginning of a new exciting decade in the band's life. To date, the band has released 18 albums and performed in multiple world famous sites such as Radio City Music Hall (where they became the first Mexican music act to lead a concert). Clearly, in any language, Los Temerarios are fantastic.
